Biology has always been something I’ve been passionate about and through Queens, I have especially become interested in Plant Biology. Hey everyone! My name is Jocelyn Zamin and I am one of the social coordinators for the 2017-2018 year. I am a third year biology student from Waterloo, Ontario and love all things bio from animals to genetics. When not in the classroom, I love to horseback ride and spend time with my golden retriever! I am in my 2nd year here at Queen’s Studying Biology. I’m from the small town of Belleville Ontario but excited to take on Kingston! I love pine trees, recycling, and Biology!

Fourth Year Representative

Hello/Bonjour! I’m Alison Purcell, one of the fourth year reps on DSC. I’m super excited for my second year on DSC because of how I got to be more involved with our program, and see why it is so great! When I’m not doing school or club work, I’m usually working at one of my jobs, reading, knitting, watching CraveTV or all of the above. With all these things I love coffee, podcasts and deep chats.

Hey, I’m Jenna Finley and I’ll be one of your fourth year bio representatives! I’ve had a great three years here at Queen’s learning the ins and outs of the bio department and I’m happy to pass that knowledge on as much as I can. I spend a lot of time volunteering on and off campus, and the rest of my free time is almost exclusively relegated to video games and sleeping. If you see me roaming the halls of Biosci feel free to come say hi!

 
Third Year Representative

Hey everyone! My name is Emma Douglas and I am one of the 3rd year reps for this year. I’m from Rothesay, New Brunswick and am excited to be at Queen’s for my undergraduate degree. I love being a Biology major, spending time outside, practicing yoga, and my dog (along with all other dogs). If anyone has any questions regarding being a Biology major, please feel free to ask me anything and I would love to help out in any way I can.

 
Third Year Representative

Hey everyone! My name is Krysten Finn and I will be one of your third year representatives for the 2017- 2018 academic year. I have lived in Kingston for most of my life and am proud to call it home. I am entering into my third year in biology and am very interested in microbiology and genetics. When I’m not in class, I can probably be found working at Fort Henry or the ARC, dancing or travelling. Hey friends! My name is Rene Jourdenais and I am super excited to be your Second Year Representative this year! I’m currently in my second year majoring in Biology! I love ALL things bio and could talk for hours! I have always been a passionate animal and plant enthusiast! On top of all things biology I love yoga as it is my favourite hobby! Hi friends! My name is Jessie Payne and I am a second year rep for the biology department! I am currently in the Biotechnology Specialization and am pursuing a certificate in business. My biology loyalties lie in neurobiology and neuroscience, but, as I can never make up my mind, have other favourites as well! I’m excited to be working with the Biology DSC to ensure your experience in Biology is the best it can possibly be. Hi! I’m Emma Redfearn, one of your fundraising coordinators for this year. I’m from the very small town of Ailsa Craig and I’m so excited to be going into my third year of BioPsych. Hey everyone! My name is Elizabeth Garland and I am very excited to be one of your Fundraising Representatives for this year! I am from Barrie, Ontario and going into my third year here at Queen’s. Although I’m still learning all of the different pathways of Biology, I have a strong interest in biodiversity, genetics and medicinal biology. Hi! My name is Tyler Kennedy and I am this year’s Workshop Coordinator! I am so excited to organize biology workshops this year to help you to develop your skills required for your courses. I am going into my 4th year of Biology here at Queen’s, and I really enjoy studying conservation and evolution! I love playing Uno, pretending to be active, eating movie theatre popcorn, and listening to sad music! Hi, my name is Jory Griffith and I am one of your career representatives for this year. I am a third year biology major and English minor and I am mainly interested in ecology and evolution. Maria and I are going to be working hard to help you guys explore all the different career paths that Biology can open up and help you figure out what the heck you want to do with your life (don’t worry, I have no idea either). I love music, yoga, reading, and all things outdoors. Feel free to ask me any questions that you might have about biology, which I may or may not be able to answer. Either way, I’m always down to chat!

Hi Everyone! My name is Jane Cooper and I'm so excited to be joining the Bio DSC as the IT/Tech representative. I'm a third year bio major with a passion for bioethics, so I like to balance my science course-load with some philosophy! I also love exploring the outdoors in all seasons, dancing and horseback riding outside of school. I'm really looking forward to a great year in Biology! I’m also always happy to answer any bio-related questions I can :)

Hi there! My name is Maddie Donelson and I am very excited to be the DSC’s Secretary/Treasurer again. I am from Waterloo and am quite thrilled (but sad) to be in my fourth year here at Queen’s. Bio-Culture Newsletter Coordinator

Hey everyone! My name is Meredith Liang-He and I am your newsletter coordinator for 2016-2017. I am a 3rd year Con-Ed student in the Bio/Psych Specialization and I am so pumped to be a part of the Biology DSC this year! As my SSP suggests, I love Bio and Psych, particular evolutionary genetics and social psychologyl. I also love english literature, playing music,, movies and food (food is the #1 priority). As your newsletter coordinator, I hope to keep you all up to date on not only exciting biology  events but also current events in science and the amazing research that our professors conduct in their labs!
